Although Venice is perhaps the best in the autumn and spring, when the weather is mild and the sky is clear blue,  even the winter fog contributes to the city's romantic image. A particularly favourite time to visit Venice and the Veneto is the spring, when you will see beautiful plants in the villa gardens and alpine blossom from the beginning of April. In the autumn the trees of the region - beech, birch and chestnut - turn beautiful shades of red and orange. In the summer the snow melts in the Alps and flows down to Lake Garda, helping to maintain the temperature at a tolerable level. Winters are mild, allowing the typical plants from the southern Mediterranean such as lemon and orange trees to grow.
